Little Dutch hands the Friends of the Sophia Foundation a check of € 59,241.74
Berkel en Rodenrijs, 26-02-2021 – Little Dutch, the Dutch-born brand for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, donates an amount of € 59,241.74 to the Friends of the Sophia Foundation.
This amount was raised in one year with the sale of the Sophia doll. With this cuddly doll Little Dutch has brought the red-haired mascot of the Friends of the Sophia Foundation to "life". The foundation will use the donation to finance the Mother and Child Center.
Various campaigns throughout the year 2020, the sales of the doll in many (online) stores and a fully sponsored stand on the Dutch ‘Negenmaandenbeurs’, supported by co-ambassador Davina Michelle, resulted in this wonderful donation. With all these initiatives and the sale of cuddly doll Sophia, Little Dutch collects no less than € 59,241.74 in one year for the Friends of the Sophia Foundation.
The check was presented today by Ad Ammerlaan and Rinke van der Helm, founders of Little Dutch, to Gynecologist A. Eggink in the Mother and Child Center of the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital. Van der Helm: “We are extremely proud to donate this amount! Who would have thought when the doll made its entrance at the Negenmaandenbeurs a year ago! Of course, it's a really lovely doll, but I believe the charity character of the doll also appeals to many parents, family and friends and made so many people choose the Sophia doll when they look for a gift.”
Eggink explains: “Your donation will be used for the Mother and Child Center. One of the most important studies for us at the moment is the study of treatment of the babies while they are still in the womb. We hope to prevent premature birth as much as we can to give babies a better start”. Eggink proudly showed the founders of Little Dutch the delivery rooms of the center that are equipped with the latest technologies to ensure the best care for new life.
With this amazing donation Little Dutch closes the first year of cuddly doll Sophia and really motivated to do even more for the foundation in 2021.
Little Dutch x Sophia
Since 2019, the Little Dutch brand has been a proud ambassador of the Friends of the Sophia Foundation. The idea soon arose to fulfill the long-cherished wish to bring mascot ‘Sophietje’ into the world in the form of a cuddly doll. The red-haired girl in dotted pajamas, accompanied by her little friend, the monkey, was launched in January 2020. She immediately stole the hearts of a lot of children and their parents. For every doll sold in the Netherlands, and many other European countries, a donation is made to the Friends of the Sophia Foundation.

In addition, the foundation offers assistance to scientific research into causes of diseases and new treatment methods. In this way they ensure that children have a better chance in life.
